Choreography Built Around You

A great routine is not pulled off a shelf. It is built for a specific team, a specific song, and a specific moment, whether that is a competition floor, a wedding reception, or a camera. That is the difference between choreography that fills space and choreography that wins.

Betties and Belles has created routines for just about every event imaginable: marriage proposals, weddings, bar and bat mitzvahs, birthdays, anniversaries, and more. We have worked with musical acts to add flair to their shows and performed as backup dancers. And we tailor every routine to your performers, from seasoned competition dancers to a wedding party that has never rehearsed a step.

I'm Tessa Caccavallo, the director here. I danced for the Indiana Pacers and cheered for the Indianapolis Colts, helped develop the first Indianapolis Colts Cheerleaders Training Program, and have choreographed competition routines, professional team performances, music videos, and television spots. Choreography is not a side service for us, it is the core of what I do. That range is what professional dancers and choreographers spend years building.

Choreography for Dance Teams and Competition

This is where a director's eye matters most. A competition routine has to score, which means clean formations, difficulty that fits your dancers' level, and a build that reads to the judges from across the floor. Tessa has choreographed numerous competition routines and performances for professional dance and cheerleading teams, so this is home turf.

Coaches and directors, if you need fresh, crowd-pleasing material that also holds up on a score sheet, we build it around your roster's strengths, not a generic template.

Choreography for Music Videos and Television

On camera, choreography has to do two jobs at once: look great live and cut well in edit. Tessa has choreographed for music videos and television spots, so we plan for the lens, not just the room. Producers and artists, tell us the track, the concept, and the shoot schedule, and we deliver material that performs on screen.

Themes We Choreograph

Every theme below is a full production: choreography, costumes, and music built to match. Tell us the direction and we will build the performance around it.

1920s

The Roaring Twenties is a favorite for birthdays, anniversaries, corporate gatherings, and weddings. Dancers perform in flapper dresses, vintage hats, and feathered headpieces, working through the Charleston, Lindy Hop, fox trot, and Breakaway. We can also teach your guests a few easy steps to use on the dance floor afterward.

1950s and 1960s

A sock hop or a Go-go night gives a party instant nostalgia. Dancers appear as 1950s sock hop girls or 1960s Go-go dancers, performing the Twist, Watusi, Mashed Potato, Jitterbug, and Swing. Book a choreographed routine, or freestyle dancing that runs alongside your DJ or band. Family-friendly attire and performances only.

Bollywood

Bollywood is fast, intricate, and a genuine crowd pleaser across age groups. We have provided Bollywood entertainment at weddings and as surprise marriage proposals, with dancers either in traditional attire or blended into the crowd until the reveal. Traditional costuming may carry an additional fee.

Hip Hop and Jazz

For a high-energy crowd, hip hop and jazz dancers set to current music get people moving fast. Dancers can perform a choreographed routine to a track you choose, work freestyle alongside your DJ or band, or teach guests the latest dance on the spot. Specialty styles, including break dancing, are available on request.

Samba and Latin

We have provided Latin routines for fundraisers, flash mobs, marriage proposals, weddings, and quinceañeras. Samba dancers for a Carnivale theme, salsa for a reception, or Zumba instructors to get a group moving. If you would like dancers in specific Latin attire, costuming fees may apply.

Cheerleaders

For a sporting event, we provide current and former professional cheerleaders who perform like the pros you see on NFL and NBA dance teams. Crowd-pleasing choreography set to the hottest music gets a crowd on its feet and ready for the game. Hosting and promotional modeling are available too.

Themed choreographed dance routine performed at an event

Choreographed by a director with the résumé to match. Tessa Caccavallo danced for the Indiana Pacers, cheered for the Indianapolis Colts, performed at Super Bowl XLIV, and helped develop the first Indianapolis Colts Cheerleaders Training Program. She has choreographed competition routines, professional team performances, music videos, and television spots.

How Booking Works

Reach out with your project: the event or shoot, your date, how many performers, and their experience level. We build a quote, then choreograph the routine around your music, your performers, and your goal, whether that is a competition score, a wedding surprise, or a camera cut. We can also teach the routine through instructional videos and rehearsals.

Because choreography projects vary so much, from a single first dance to a full competition season, pricing is quoted per project. Tell us what you are planning and we will build a number around it. Event professionals who work under standards from the International Live Events Association will tell you the same thing: the vendors worth having book out early.

Choreography FAQs

How much does it cost to hire a choreographer? +
Pricing is quoted per project because the scope varies so much. A single wedding first dance is very different from a full competition routine or a music video shoot. Tell us your project, the number of performers, and your timeline, and we will build a quote around it.
Do you choreograph for competition dance teams? +
Yes. Tessa has choreographed numerous competition routines and performances for professional dance and cheerleading teams. We build the routine around your dancers' level, with clean formations and difficulty that reads to judges, so it holds up on a score sheet.
Can you choreograph for a music video or TV shoot? +
Yes. Tessa has choreographed for music videos and television spots. We plan choreography that looks great live and cuts well in edit. Give us the track, the concept, and the shoot schedule, and we deliver material built for the camera.
Can you teach a routine to people who have never danced? +
Absolutely. We choreograph for wedding parties, families, and corporate groups all the time. We keep the steps simple, send instructional videos to practice with, and can rehearse in person. The routine is built to fit your group's skill level, not the other way around.
Do you choreograph for weddings and proposals? +
Yes. We choreograph first dances, bridal party routines, surprise reception performances, and flash mob proposals. See our wedding dancers page for the full picture, or tell us your idea and we will build the routine around it.
What dance styles do you choreograph? +
We choreograph 1920s, 1950s and 1960s, Bollywood, hip hop, jazz, Samba, and Latin, among others, plus competition and cheer styles. For specialized disciplines like ballroom, aerial, or ballet, we bring in partner groups we work with. Tell us the style and we will match it.
Can we provide our own music? +
Yes. Bring your own track and we choreograph to it, or let us pick the music for you. We can also cut and mix the music so the routine hits every beat and transition cleanly.
Do you travel for choreography projects? +
Yes. Betties and Belles is a nationwide company, and we travel for shoots, competitions, and events coast to coast. We also work remotely through video for some projects. Travel is factored into your quote when a booking requires it.
