Betties and Belles was thrilled to provide entertainment at the Unmask Autism Gala on Saturday, April 30th at the Renaissance Hotel in Carmel, Indiana to benefit the Independence Academy. To compliment the “Rio Carnival” theme of the event this year, Betties and Belles dancers Audrey and Ayda dressed in traditional Samba costumes and greeted guests as they arrived, helped with the live auction and performed a Samba routine before the emcee was announced to kick off the festivities.
The Independence Academy is a school that serves students in grades 5-12 with high functioning autism/Asperger Syndrome. The school has a small student/teacher ratio that is welcoming, accepting and affirms the individuality of their unique students. When Marisa Gill, the Independence Academy School Director, contacted Betties and Belles to provide themed entertainment for the annual fundraiser, we jumped at the chance to be involved with such a great cause! In addition to the dance entertainment, there were also silent and live auctions, casino games, dinner and DJ Indiana Jones got the party started on the dance floor.
